ReplyDeleteI can't even look at the cover, let alone read that book. I'd be way too scared and I'm.....well, let's just say I'm older than 15. So I can't imagine what it would've been like to read that as a 14/15 year old. Yikes. :) I like your advice though--listen to your dad. Ha! Good advice. Thanks for joining us today.
ReplyDeleteThis was awesome! I loved the tea party in the park (I would totally do that) and your description of being so utterly terrified by The Exorcist was wonderful. It really is amazing how completely and utterly we can get taken over by books. What a great interpretation of the question!

Sara, I flipped through the Exorcist when I was younger, and had to stop because it freaked me out too much! (I blame my mom, I was scarred forever after she let me watch it at 5, haha) Also, Stephen King's Salem's Lot scared me so much, I sent it to my dad afterward. I couldn't stand seeing it on my shelf anymore!
DeleteElsie, Salem's Lot was one of my favourites. I have stories about that book, too. And the original TV movie (showing my age)that I saw on vacation in a country cottage in the middle of a forest. Slept with the drapes closed last night convinced I could hear fingernails at the windows! Such a glutton for punishment.

ReplyDeleteSo my dad built this huge treehouse for me and my siblings. Huge. It had a secret passageway. And a bridge. And a tower. This is where I would leave King's IT, so Pennywise couldn't crawl out of the pages and get me when I was sleeping. I didn't really want that scary frakkin clown in the treehouse, either, but I figured it was better than my bedroom.
See, now I hugely jealous. That treehouse sounds amazing! I would have been in there with my flashlight reading IT! But, yeah. Pennywise freaked me out too. Very creepy. It's a wonder we're all sane :)
DeleteOh. My. God. Reading IT, at night, alone, in a treehouse? The Fort (which is what us kids called this mega treehouse) was buried back in the trees on our farm, pretty far from the house. We would dare people to spend the night out there, and they NEVER made it all the way through.
DeleteOh, IT still freaks me out, and I've read it tons of times! For a long time, I kept thinking of balloons whenever I went to the library. And clowns ARE evil. We totally need to have a fort party...with King books...and tea and cake!
