Friday The Thirteeners is a small group of YA authors debuting in 2013. Thirteen is a number that marks the beginning of adolescence. It whispers of secret, exciting, and possibly scary things. For us, it says so much about becoming official authors, with all its twists and turns. So we figured the best way to conduct this blog was to host our very own virtual bonfire, complete with prizes and a chance to embarrass us with an ongoing Truth Or Dare.
So welcome! Pull up a camp chair and roast some marshmallows while we get settled in to tell ghost stories and play games. Don’t mind those strange sounds coming from the woods, that’s just Kasie trying to scare us. Hear that giggle between moans? Yup.
The first order of official bonfire business is the Truth Or Dare. Oh yes, my friends, we’re giving you the floor here. We thought this blog would be far more entertaining if we put it in your hands. Your job is simple: Offer up a Truth Or Dare here. Our job is not so simple: Pick a Truth Or Dare, carry it out, and report back. If your Truth Or Dare is chosen, you’ll be getting a little prize from us. Or a big prize, it’s really the luck of the draw (or UNluck of the draw, if we’re being all 13-like).
And who’s the first up on the chopping block? Yours truly, Natalie Whipple. My other daring author friends will continue from there. We are at your mercy. I’d tell you to be kind, but I’m not sure that’s the point.
So send in your Truth Or Dares, and next Friday you could see me fulfilling your challenge (aka: humiliating myself)!
Since this is Friday The Thirteeners very first post, we also couldn’t leave you without some choice rewards. A contest is definitely in order! And, trust me, the prizes are awesome:
Thirteen Winners will be able to choose one prize of their liking:
Prizes:
1. A 13-page crit from one of our authors.
2. An Indie Bound gift card for $13.
3. A black cat pendant made by Natalie Whipple.
To Enter:
Just leave a comment on this post. Following the blog or our twitter feed is much encouraged (so you won’t miss the announcement of winning the contest and/or Truth Or Dare), but not mandatory.
Deadline:
Wednesday, January 18th, 2012, Midnight eastern time. Winners will be announced on Friday (The 20th), along with the results of my Truth Or Dare adventure.
Now, while we await the Truth Or Dares, let’s tell some wicked ghost stories.
Uh Natalie, I want to win that cat pendant myself! it is too freaking cute!!! It reminds me of the cat from Kiki's Delivery service.
ReplyDeleteJiji! Totally.
DeleteAwesome! And what a great day to launch! :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats and best wishes to you Thirteeners!
Awesome new blog, girls!! Very exciting!
ReplyDeleteThis is the awesomest idea for a group blog! Congratulations on the launch! :)
ReplyDeleteHow fun! Congrats to you all! Christy
ReplyDeleteOoh, so excited about this blog. It's going to be awesome. I love hearing about this time in the road to publication. So fun.
ReplyDeleteWoot woot! The GFC broke when I tried to connect, so I'll be back :)
ReplyDeleteThis is so fun. Can't wait to see all the mayhem this will bring.
ReplyDeleteThis is a really cool idea.
ReplyDeleteI'm a fellow triskaidekaphile, and I like the idea of a central location to find others who are in the same year. (Sort of feels like a class roster.) There are a couple of debuts on your sidebar I'd not heard of, so now I have more to add to my TBR pile. YAY!
Yay! Thanks for adding us to your TBR pile, Josin! And if you're looking for more 2013 books, don't forget to check out the Lucky 13s -- They are the complete roster when it comes to 2013 debuts, whereas we are just a couple writer friends! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteFun idea! It looks like 2013 is going to be a good year for books.
ReplyDeleteConglomerating authors under one blog makes my life easier! Congratulations on your successes :)
ReplyDeleteYippee! Fantastic new blog - looks great ladies!
ReplyDeleteYay! I'm excited to see what you post here. :o)
ReplyDeleteI just realized today is Friday the Thirteenth. :o)
ReplyDeleteThis blog looks fantastic, and the truth or dare sounds like tons of fun (for us, bwahaha). Congratulations to all!
ReplyDeleteyay for the 2013 authors! I'm excited to have books to keep on looking forward to reading!
ReplyDeleteWhere are all the dares?? I'll start, I guess. I dare Natalie to draw a self portrait and post it for us on this site.
ReplyDeleteOh... I get it now. Okay, the dare stands, but I'll just go post it in the right spot. :)
ReplyDeleteThis looks like fun. :) Can't wait to watch it develop.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the kind words, guys! Keep those truth and dares coming! (The form is here.)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, just reading these comments makes me both excited and nervous when it's turn for Truth or Dare. Thanks for stopping by, keep those dares coming, and please be kind. I'm a huge wimp.
ReplyDeleteI want be scared. Scare the heck out of me with the dares. Make me sit in a graveyard at midnight and read Stephen King. Make me go into the woods after dark when I can hear the coyotes howling. Make me walk down the gravel road that goes past that abandoned farm. Bring it.
ReplyDeleteNo, don't be kind. We want to see Elsie do something really embarrassing! :) (Are you next, Elsie, I forget.)
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the pendant looked like Jiji too! Looking forward to the blog.
ReplyDeleteHA HA! I already have a favorite dare! I can't wait to see which one Natalie picks!!!!
ReplyDeleteI think I'm after Ellen. Ooh boy.
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome! Congrats to all of you on your books!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations everybody!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part about this particular group is that I know so many of you through blogging (or the rare and special IN REAL LIFE) already so it makes this all the more fun.
And I can't wait to see Ellen's dare...I'm going to try to make her show her face on the blogosphere!!! Yeah, you know it.
(can somebody turn off word verification?)
*rubs hands together* Ooh. I submitted one. Totally evil, of course. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the blog, of course! Genius idea!!
I absolutely love the black cat pendant. It is ahhhhh....dorable. :)
ReplyDeleteMy dare is to go rock wall climbing...
This looks like a fun blog ... love it. Can't wait to see more.
ReplyDeleteMore blog posts by Natalie? Yes please! (and I look forward to reading what the rest of you write as well, of course)
ReplyDeleteCongrats all!
Huzzah! What a cool idea for a blog. :) Can't wait to read more posts, and especially to see how Truth or Dare turns out. (Must think of something diabolical to submit... Bwahaha! :D)
