Miriam Forster Takes the Dare!

Today's guest post comes from Miriam Forster, whose debut novel, CITY OF A THOUSAND DOLLS,  comes out from Harper Teen on Feb. 5, 2013.

Miriam was brave enough to take on the following dare, a dare that involves - dum, dum, DUM! - dancing. And not just any dancing, but interpretive dance.

Here's a little more about Miriam's book:
Nisha was abandoned at the gates of the City of a Thousand Dolls when she was just a child. Now sixteen, she lives on the grounds of the isolated estate, where orphan girls apprentice as musicians, healers, courtesans, and, if the rumors are true, assassins. Nisha makes her way as Matron’s assistant, her closest companions the mysterious cats that trail her shadow. Only when she begins a forbidden flirtation with the city’s handsome young courier does she let herself imagine a life outside the walls. Until one by one, girls around her start to die.

Before she becomes the next victim, Nisha decides to uncover the secrets that surround the girls’ deaths. But by getting involved, Nisha jeopardizes not only her own future in the City of a Thousand Dolls—but her own life.
Doesn't that sound amazing? I, for one, can't wait until February.

  1. Miriam, I love this! Especially the part in the middle where you are laughing uncontrollably and saying, "I can't do this. I just can't." You are a brave lady. Thanks for being so awesome and tackling this dare!

  2. AWESOME! I imagine myself taking your book into a book club meeting, talking to the kids about it...I know it's one that would get picked fast. Then...I could show them this vid. They would LOVE it.

    1. Ohmygosh, that's still my favorite part. My husband was watching me do this off and on for the whole eight-hour drive and he was just in hysterics sometimes. But he kept telling me I could do it! :)

  6. HA!!! That was so fun! I was laughing right along with you. I loved all your procrastination too. It was funny. It turned out perfect. And was that your husband's voice as the narrator at the end there? He has a very nice voice. He should read books out loud for a living. :)

    1. The laughing is the best part! And I kept thinking. "Oh, I'll just eat first. Oh, I'll just read for a bit and then try again." Interpretive dance is scary when all you know how to do is flail. :)
